Volunteer Program
Have you considered becoming a Hospice volunteer? Our volunteers provide critical support for our daily work while making a difference in the community. Volunteers are an essential part of a Hospice team. We have volunteers of all ages and backgrounds that share a common desire to help others and give back.
For those who would like to work directly with patients, there are several volunteer roles available, including patient care, hairstylists, massage therapists and pet therapists. We also have non-patient care roles, including office volunteers, special events and seamstresses. Learn more about these and the other volunteer roles at Hometown Hospice. Whatever your skills and interests, we have a volunteer role for you.
We provide training to all volunteers to help ensure you feel prepared and confident. Our volunteer training, which includes topics required by Medicare, covers the philosophy of Hospice of the Hometown Hospice, the end-of-life process, grief and loss, and more.
Ready to volunteer?
If you’d like to join the team, fill out our online application. Once your application is received, a volunteer coordinator will contact you to discuss the next steps. Patient care volunteers assist our patients and their families. Volunteers provide companionship to patients, which may include reading, visiting and other one-on-one activities, and help with errands or light housekeeping.
Respite volunteers relieve caregivers for short periods of time so they may take a break.
Pathway volunteers are present at the bedside of a hospice patient who is actively dying.
Special roles: Do you have a special talent or skill? We are always looking for individuals with special skills, such as hairstylists, pet therapists and massage therapists, to provide additional comfort and care to our patients.
Office volunteers greet visitors and assist with filing, data entry, mailings and other clerical duties.
Special event volunteers assist at fundraising events and host booths at health and wellness fairs.
